Check the requirements for entering that destination
- Covid test
- Vaccination/booster
- Visa
Research the destination: culture, weather, things to do, etc
- Culture: The culture of your layover destination may be completely different than the culture of your final destination. Such as clothing, greetings, etc. So you want to educate yourself on that destination’s culture so you will be prepared when you get there.
- Things to do: It will be easier to get the most out of your layover if you know what you want to do. Create an itinerary with a layout of your plans. There may be time for spontaneity, but having a plan helps with time management.
- Transportation: Research all of your transportation options. Most destinations use taxi apps now but it’s good to know which apps before getting there. That way you will already have them downloaded and ready. Even knowing possible bus, train and ferry schedules is great, it may be easier and cheaper.
- Weather: Check the weather of both destinations before packing for your trip. The weather in your layover destination may be completely different than your final destination’s weather. It may be hot in your final destination, so you have all Summer clothing, but the layover destination’s weather is cold, so now you’re not prepared.
Create an itinerary for your layover
Creating an itinerary will not only be your guide to let you know what you’re going to be doing but also help with time management.
