Transportation in Barbados

Getting around Barbados is pretty easy. There are a variety of options for transportation in Barbados. You can take a bus, taxi, van or walk.

Bus

The buses travel all throughout Barbados. The price for a single ride is $3.50 BDS, which equals $1.75 USD, €156, 637 AED. If using USD while traveling through Barbados, it’s easy to remember the currency difference because USD is half of BDS. If something is $5 BDS, then it is $2.50 USD.

Taxi

There’s an app called “Pick Up” that works similarly to Uber. You put your card information in, then your pick up address and then the drop off address and they will find a taxi for you. The only difference is that you won’t know the amount you will be charged, until you’re dropped off.

Van

Vans cost the same amount as the buses. They’re all over the island, so it’s very convenient to catch one. You don’t even have to try much to catch a van, usually the driver will approach you, asking if you need a ride.

Walking

Walking around Barbados is very doable. I stayed at Rockley Resort in Christ Church, and walked almost everywhere. Within a couple blocks was the supermarket, gas station, clothing vendors, restaurants, Worthing Square, Rockley Beach, a bank, and more.
