Glamping at Gatherwild ranch

If you’re looking for a place to go glamping near NYC, Gatherswild Ranch is the perfect place. Only about a three hour drive from NYC, Gatherwild Ranch provides shelter, seclusion, and sense of security. There are eight different living spaces to choose from and a shared outdoor kitchen to cook dinner.

My boyfriend and I decided to go on a glamping trip so we could get away for a day, while spending some quality time together and trying something new. After doing research, we decided to go to Gatherswild Ranch because of the convenient location, their accommodations, and the living spaces they provided looked comfortable. I also thought they were cute. After checking out all of the living spaces, we decided to book the “Firefly Tent.”

The “Firefly Tent” was the furthest tent from the parking lot, which we enjoyed because of the seclusion. Even though we were the furthest we were on top of the hill, so when we look down we could see the firepits and hear chatter from some of the other glampers.

Inside of our tent was a queen sized bed, with covers, pillows, a blanket, and towels. On each side of the bed were small tables, and both tables had a light on them. There was also a chair, small table, garbage bin and mirror.

Outside of the tent was a firepit with two chairs, a grill, a table, and a cooler. On the side of the tent is where the shower and toilet was located.

Our evening

After checking in, and checking out the tent, we both took a nap. It wasn’t part of our plan but after the drive there and the rainy weather, it was a recipe for a nap. After waking up we drove about thirty minutes to buy firewood, food to grill and ingredients for smores. By the way Gatherswild Ranch sells firewood at the main wood pile and it’s self serve.

When we got back to our tent, we made our fire, made some smores, relaxed, and stargazed. The sky was full of stars, it’s definitely an amazing place to go for stargazing. After a couple of hours by the firepit, we decided to call it the night.

Getting ready for bed was different. Since it was cold outside we left our clothes on, including our sweaters. It could be because we went to Gatherswild Ranch at the end of September, so it was chilly and rainy.

Our morning

Waking up in the “Firefly Tent” was amazing. I went to sleep and it was pretty cold, but I woke up to the sun shining. We started our day with a great grilled breakfast and sitting out in the sun.

We continued our morning by working out. I hula hooped, it’s something I do almost every morning. After working out it was shower time. It was my first time showering outside, and it was definitely a quick experience. Even though the sun was out, it was still pretty chilly to take a shower outside.

Packing to leave the tent was pretty bittersweet. I was sad because it was such a short experience and another day would’ve been great. But we left planning to go back and talking about how much of a great experience we had.
