Winter Lantern Festival in New York City

Winter Lantern Festival is a ticketed outdoor exhibit that celebrates traditional Chinese lanterns. It’s a fantastic self guided walk through experience filled with lights and over 1000 Chinese lanterns.

Located in Queens Farm, a historic farm in Queens, NY, it’s accessible by public transportation and driving. There’s parking available at the site as well as street parking. You can purchase your tickets online in advance or with one of the employees on site.

Different lanterns

There are a variety of lanterns to see, from animals, robots, flowers, Christmas tree, corn field, dragons, fairy, a tunnel and more. I love how they displayed the animal lanterns; to me it was like walking through a zoo. There was also a section with dinosaurs, and they were moving and had sound effects.

To walk through the entire exhibit it took about 45 minutes to an hour. That included stopping to take photos and videos. There were also food vendors; so you could stop for something to eat.

The exit is right next to the entrance. So when you enter you can choose to either go clockwise or counterclockwise through the exhibit, but either way you will end near the entrance.
