Eat vegan in Belize City

Traveling as a vegan takes a lot of research and planning. It can be hard and overwhelming if you’re not prepared, definitely if you’re a foodie like me and don’t only want to eat a garden salad your entire trip.

Based off of my research and places I’ve been, here’s a couple of good places to eat vegan in Belize City.

Martha’s Cafe

Martha’s Cafe is a vegan and vegetarian restaurant. This restaurant is part of the Harbour View Boutique Hotel and Yoga Retreat. The vibe of the restaurant is very zen and tranquility, from the music, removing of shoes, and the views & sounds of the ocean. I ordered the vegan waffles with a orange and pineapple blend smoothie and they both were great. It’s definitely an amazing place to start off your day.

Another great thing about Martha’s Cafe is that it’s conveniently located right next to the Belize sign and the Baron Bliss Lighthouse. You can actually see the Belize sign while you’re dining. Also the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi is only about a 7 min walk away.

Secret Garden Restaurant and Bar

Secret Garden Restaurant and Bar is located only a couple minutes walk from Martha’s Cafe. So you can also easily walk to the Belize sign, the Baron Bliss Lighthouse and the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi. This restaurant has a vegetarian menu, but you can speak to the server to ask to make it vegan. For instance I ordered the Stir Fry Spaghetti, which had mushroom, tofu and a bunch of mixed vegetables. The portion size was also large.

Check out Secret Garden Restaurant and Bar Facebook page for more information.

Vegan Bites

Vegan Bites is a buffet style vegan restaurant located in Digi Park with oceanside views. It’s the only restaurant I came across that’s completely vegan. I ate there twice and ordered a variety of things. They also make fresh juices, I tried the orange juice and the cucumber & pineapple juice. Everything was delicious, fresh and fulfilling.

Everyday of the week there’s a different menu, you can check it out on Vegan Bites Facebook page.
