Dark View Falls: A Breathtaking Escape in St. Vincent

What is The Dark View Falls?

The Dark View Falls, also known as the twin waterfalls, is located on Leeward Highway in Chateaubelair, St. Vincent & Grenadines. It’s a double waterfall, that cascades about 100 feet, with one fall on top of the other.

What to expect during your visit

Tickets

Before entering the parking lot of Dark View Falls, you have to buy your ticket, which is $6EC. When I went, my friend and I didn’t have to exit the car, a worker came to the car to take our cash and gave us tickets.

Getting to the falls

Driving from Kingstown, takes about 1hr and 20 minutes. You can take the Leeward Highway from Kingstown all the way to the parking lot of Dark View Falls. The parking is free. To get to the Dark View Falls from the parking lot, you have to first walk across a long bamboo bridge over the Richmond River. Then there’s a short and easy hike to the falls through the rainforest.

Natural Pools

You can walk through the natural pool directly under the waterfall. The natural pool is cool, and about 2 feet deep. There’s another pool next to the waterfall, and that one is about 4 feet deep, and great for swimming.

Safety Tips

Be careful walking on the rocks because they are very slippery. Bring water shoes because they have a better grip than walking barefoot, also walking barefoot on the rocks in the natural pool under the waterfall can hurt your feet. I noticed most visitors had on water shoes. I didn’t have water shoes, so I definitely was regretting not bringing mines. Also there are many stairs leading up to the second waterfall and the ground can get really hot.

More

There are restrooms and a viewing platform.
