Why I Created a Travel Blog

A woman in Niagara Falls, New York.

Share my travel experiences

I started sharing my life on Instagram about eight years ago. I shared different activities I did, restaurants I ate at, birthday celebrations, traveling, and more. During my years of posting on Instagram, many friends, coworkers, and associates that followed me would ask me questions regarding traveling. I would answer their questions and leave it at that.

A few years later, the thought of a travel blog crossed my mind. I thought it would be a great way to share my travel experiences, but in more detail. Since creating my blog, I’ve sent so many blog posts to people who had questions regarding my travel experiences. For instance, one of my friends told me he was taking a trip to Bermuda, and had questions about transportation, and what area to stay in. I sent him my blog posts that had the information he needed. I thought it would be more convenient for him to have something that he could go back to whenever he needed.

Inspire others to step out of their comfort zones

I’ve always been a very open-minded and respectful person when it comes to different cultures, beliefs, languages, and just understanding that everyone is different. I realized over the years that because I’m so open-minded and respectful when it comes to people’s differences, people tend to be comfortable sharing their cultures, beliefs, and thoughts with me. This led to me learning a lot about people, trying different cultural foods (the ones I could eat, since I’m vegan) and loving them, learning different styles of dance, communicating in different languages, and getting invited to cultural events.

I want to inspire people to step out of their comfort zones because there’s a whole world to explore. Even if it’s exploring another town or city nearby, it can possibly lead to learning something new. Something that stuck out to me, is how proud one of my neighbors were of me traveling. Everytime she saw me, she would say “I’m so proud of you, “This is the girl that’s always traveling,” “Alot of the people in this neighborhood, never even left this neighborhood.” The reason why those stuck to me is because it made me realize that outside of her, there weren’t many other people I knew that were travelers.

I’ve began to realize that my open-mindedness is what makes me such a great traveler, and also makes it easier for me to connect with people from all around the world. It’s hard to step out of your comfort zone if you’re close-minded, because being closed-minded can cause people to be ignorant and possibly judgmental.

Have a place to go when I want to reminisce

I absolutely love just randomly going through my blog and reading different posts. Definitely when I take a break from traveling, it’s one of the things that helps keep my wanderlust alive. It brings me back to that time, and it’s like I’m reliving it all over again.
