Staying at Saabay Home Guest House in Chiang Rai

Saabay Home Guest House is a luxuriously Thai-style cabin located in a secluded location. The cabin has all of the amenities you need. It’s also conveniently located next to the Chiang Rai city center.

The property includes four cabins, a spa, and a seating area outside with a table, and four chairs. There’s also a common area with fruits, tea, a microwave, and an indoor dining seating area. The location is very peaceful. The only noise was in the morning when the birds were chirping and the maintenance person was cleaning.

Inside the Saabay Home Guest House cabin

My cabin had a queen-sized bed with four pillows, a table with two chairs, a sofa with two pillows, two pairs of slippers, a small refrigerator, a closet with a mirror, a lamp, and an outlet on each side of the bed. The bathroom had a sink, a toilet, a shower, 2 washcloths, and 2 towels. The water from the sink and shower didn’t get hot, it was between cool and warm. The cabin also got pretty cold at night and in the early morning. I did go in January, which is winter in Thailand. By the way, in the winter, it’s around 85 degrees during the day. So it’s hot during the day but temperatures drop at night.

If you’re not a fan of the cold, at night I suggest wearing pajamas that cover your arms and legs. Maybe even wear socks. It was so cold in my cabin one night, I didn’t want to get up to go to the bathroom.

Services

As I mentioned earlier, they have a spa that is less than one hundred feet from each cabin. They also offer a laundry service. For 50 baht (prices may vary based on how much laundry you have), the laundry person washed my clothes, folded them, and nicely put them in a plastic bag. It was well worth it.

Outside of the Saabay Home Guest House secluded location

Lan Muang Village

The Saabay Home Guest House is about a 3 min drive or 15 min walk from Lan Muang Village. The Lan Muang Village has a supermarket called “Fresh Market,” at first glance it can look like a parking lot but once you get closer you’ll see the different vendors selling goods. The supermarket sells vegetables, meat, pastries, grains, and more. I bought fried Thai sweet potato balls and a croissant, they both were really good.

Outside of the supermarket is an area with different restaurants and shops. There is also a Muy Thai studio, a laundromat, and an outdoor sitting area with tables and chairs. From my experience, in the Lan Muang Village, not many people spoke English. I recommend learning a little bit of Thai or using a translation app.

Chiang Rai City Center

The Saabay Home Guest House is about a 10 min drive or a 55 min walk from the Chiang Rai city center. There are many things to do, from eating at a variety of restaurants (vegan options too), Chiang Rai night bazaar, Saturday & Sunday night markets, museums, and a clocktower that has a colorful light and sound show every night at 7, 8, and 9.
