Starlodge Adventure Suites is a unique lodging experience, where you sleep in a hanging pod over the Sacred Valley. If you love adventure and unique stays like me, I suggest you add this to your bucketlist.

When you book your Starlodge Adventure Suites, you have the option to only book the suite or book the suite with activities. The activities are via ferreta and ziplining; you can book one or both. They take place either in the afternoon before checking into your suite, or the next morning.

A couple amazing thing about staying here, is that you’re served a great dinner and breakfast at the glamping dining tent at the base, there are two hot tubs to enjoy, and the location is great for stargazing,

Staying in a hanging pod

Starlodge Adventure Suites has six pods to choose from. All are the same size, but located at different heights on the mountain.

• Pod 1- Southern Cross, 9521ft
• Pod 2- Baby Llama, 9580ft
• Pod 3- The Sheperd, 9613ft
• Pod 4- The Fox Pod, 9646ft
• Pod 5- The Condor, 9685ft
• Pod 6- Orion, 9718ft

My boyfriend and I chose Pod 6- Orion, being all the way at the top was intriguing to us. We had to walk up a system of metal stairs, for about twenty minutes, in the dark, to get to our pod. If you’re afraid of heights and the dark, I don’t recommend staying in the higher pods. Pod 1- Southern Cross is the lowest, and the closest pod to the hot tubs and showers.

In order to get into the pod, we had to enter through the top by opening the door and walking backwards down the stairs. We had to keep the harness and helmet on until we safely made it into the pod. Walking inside the pod with no harness or helmet on for the first couple of minutes was a little weird. Our pod had a queen bed, two single beds, a cabinet with tea, cups and walkie talkies, a bathroom with a toilet, toilet tissue, sink, garbage bin, soap and mirror. The bed was very comfortable, and I felt so warm under the comforter; I slept so peacefully. Waking up in the morning was one of the best parts of my stay because the view was breathtaking.

Activities

Via ferreta

A via ferreta is like a cross between rock climbing and hiking. It’s a protected climbing route that includes ladders or steel fixtures. You always wear a helmet, a harness, and a carabiner. The carabiner is connected to your harness and the steel fixtures at all times.

If you choose to book only via ferreta, you will via ferreta to the top and then via ferreta back down. If you book via ferreta and ziplining, you will via ferreta up and then zipline down on four ziplines.

Ziplining

Ziplining is to ride on a pulley that’s suspended on a inclined cable, usually in a seated position, attached by a harness. If you choose to book only ziplining, you will hike up to the highest zipline and then began ziplining down. You will have five ziplines to make it to the base of the mountain.
